Water Main Extension Public Hearing

The State of Connecticut and DEEP are planning to extend a water main along Route 154 from Denlar Drive in Chester through Tylerville due to groundwater contamination in Haddam which has polluted residential drinking water wells. DEEP has completed a draft water supply engineering study on behalf of the Town of Haddam evaluating alternatives to provide a reliable, long-term source of potable water to Tylerville. Initial evaluation of the plan indicates that there will be no requirement or allowance for Chester residents along the main to connect to public water, although connection will be allowed if a well fails and there are public health reasons involved.
A combined Public Hearing on the draft engineering study pursuant to RCSA Section 22a-471-1(f)(2)(B) and Scoping Meeting pursuant to the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act will be held:
